Sugru and #100happydays4kids make Social Entrepreneurs Ireland 2015 FINALS!

After attaining a One-To-Watch Entrepreneurial Award for 2015 from SCCUL in the Ballybane Enterprise Centre, business partners, authors and psychologists at Sugru, Lorraine Lynch and Arlene Naughten, have gone from strength-to-strength and are now capitalizing on their early success by making it through to the final stages of the Social Entrepreneur Ireland 2015. The Elevator Programme is a national competition which identifies the most innovative business start-up endeavors and awards 20,000 euro to the top candidates in Ireland. These two women have shown incredible dedication and passion over the past year since the opening of Sugru Child Development and Contextual Play Therapy Services, which specializes in the promotion of child and family well-being. Sugru has successfully extended its services to the Athenry Primary Care Centre, where Arlene and Lorraine provide a range of services including contextual therapeutic play, CBT and family interventions, as well as individualized therapy for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Dyspraxia and ASD. They also deliver professional, education and health workshops to organizations and schools around the country, including mindfulness and positive mental health programs.
At the beginning of the year, Lorraine and Arlene launched their award-winning book#100happydays4kids in Charlie Byrnes Bookstore in Galway City, which has been met with critical acclaim from professionals, organizations and parents alike. #100happydays4kids is a parenting book, which guides its readers through one hundred effective steps to increasing familial well-being and improved attachment. Readers can register their details online and share photos or blog about their experiences alongside a community of parents from all around the world.
The team at Social Entrepreneurs Ireland have chosen Lorraine and Arlenes’ approach to positive parenting from over 180 applicants from across Ireland after they participated in a business boot-camp in Dublin, where they were judged by business experts such as Gavin Duffy from Dragon’s Den and RTE Presenter Brian Dobson. The award ceremony will take place in Mansion House, Dublin, where the young entrepreneurs will find out if they have secured one of the top prizes. If they are successful, their plan is to provide top quality and research-driven services to more families around the country.
